Presidents Comments
Sonny Buoncervello
Dear Fellow Club Members,
It has been my pleasure to serve as your President this year and I humbly appreciate
your continued Friendship, Respect and Fellowship. As we enter October and the great
seven months of The Best Central Florida weather, our Calendar has several Exciting
Rotary Events. First, our Rotary Dragon Boat Event – October 19 at Downtown
Disney. I am personally looking forward to inviting Friends, Neighbors and Business
Associates to join us for fellowship and an exciting Rotary District Challenge. See the
calendar section.
While most teams are packing up their paddles for the winter, there are those that travel to WALT DISNEY
WORLD® for one last paddling adventure of the season. Located in Downtown Disney West Side, the Walgreens
Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival attracts recreational and competitive teams from all over North America
and has been the catalyst for many new team start-ups in the Orlando area. In 2010, participation at the one day
regatta doubled from its previous three years to 70 teams, local and traveling. Teams traveled from as far away as New
York and Nova Scotia.
Through our NEW official travel provider GET Travel Sports & Events, participating teams receive exclusive deals on
Disney Park Passes, special discounts on Disney Resorts and enjoy free shuttle service to and from the races! Join us
for the premier end of season event!
Registration for the Walgreens Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival is now open. Click on the

Rotary Club of International Drive has created another first – Masquerade Bowl at Kings Bowl – International Drive.
As Governor Pete Edwards mentioned in his Official Visit: Keeping all Members involved is key to Rotary Retention.
I suggest we have a Club Assembly to discuss the “Be a Vibrant Club” brochure to help us engage new Members and
Current Members with Participation in Committees, Projects and Inclusion. In getting “back to basics “ and
remembering Paul Harris’ vision of establishing a Business Networking Organization I suggest Classification Talks, as
well as Business Updates, Special Offers, etc.
In Closing, I want to again Thank You for all of your Patience and Understanding towards my shortcomings in
technology and organization as well all my numerous disabilities.
