Featured Make-Up
My first Make Up! by Mario Aguilar
I’m a new member. Very new. I was inducted as Rotarian on 17 July. And in the first
week, I received the news that would have a business trip to New York.
I then decided to download the app to locate Rotary clubs in other cities, and located
the Wall Street Rotary Club holding its weekly meetings at 06:00 pm on Wednesdays.
It was perfect because my flight would land the 3:00 pm and then have enough time
to keep up the weekly meeting and not pass my week as a Rotarian.
Unfortunately, to my surprise, on Wednesday, July 23, at 5:45 pm when I arrived at
the address of 60 Pine St., on Wall Street, I came across a notice at the entrance
which read: “For reasons of renovation, the club will be closed until next September 2.”
What a disappointment! Even upset, I returned to the hotel and I wondered if I would
have a second chance this week. My only free time would be a breakfast on Friday
because my flight depart JFK at noon!
I returned to the application for a more detailed search - meetings only on Fridays and
only for breakfast... and another fright - in New York there is no club with these
prerogatives. :-(
But we are Rotarians, and we never gave up... I found one in Ridgefield, New Jersey!
And on Friday I decided to wake up 05:45 am to be able to share this very pleasant
environment that we all know so well.
And so, after a little adventure, I
fulfilled my first make up with
fellow Rotarians from the
Palisades Rotary Club in New
Jersey!
And increasingly I know the
importance of devoting our time
for the community and our ideals!
A week very blessed to all fellow
Rotarians!
