Rotary Awards Explained

                                                      December 2023

Rotary has a grand tradition of recognizing achievements with awards. This is especially
true for individuals honored for their service and commitment by being named a Paul
Harris Fellow. Rotary International awards this distinction when $1000.00 is committed
to The Rotary Foundation and for other service in support of the Rotary mission.

Each year, it is the happy duty of the Club’s out-going President to select recipients of
         the Club’s other prestigious awards.

Garth Walker Rotarian of the Year Award - In 1996, because of his incredible wit, charm,
warmth, generosity, undying enthusiasm for Rotary, and the inspiration that he was to all,
The Rotarian of the Year Award was renamed The Garth Walker Rotarian of the Year Award.
Recent recipients include Rommel Mosquera, Jean Campana, Greg Gorski, and Keith
         Wolling.

Anne Peach Service Above Self Award – This award goes to the member who
exemplifies and practices this basic tenant of Rotary. One such person is Anne Peach in
whose name this award has been given since 2006. The awardee consistently places the
service of others above self. Recent recipients include Harry Boardman, Doug Spence,
         Eddie Fernandez, and Lynn Roeder.

Four Way Test Award - Often Rotarians have the opportunity in their daily lives to ask
themselves: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better
friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? That is the 4 WAY TEST of what we
should think, say, and do in our personal and professional lives. People who exemplify
this test in how they live their lives respect their employees, friends, spouses, and all
others. Recent recipients include Secily Wilson, Doug Spence, and Anthony Lightman.

Object of Rotary Award – This award encourages and fosters the ideal of service as a
basis of worthy enterprise through the application of high ethical standards. Each
Rotarian’s occupation provides an opportunity to serve the community, foster the ideal of
service, and advance international goodwill and peace. Awardees are people who
selflessly contribute their time and talent to the benefit of the club and the community.
Recent recipients include Jeff Calvert, Dan Ehrlich, Patti Kelly, and Augustine Campana.
