2016-2017 Award Recipients
Announced at the Year-end Party - Congratulations to All
The Rookie of the Year is awarded to a new 2016-17 member who already exemplifies what it
means to be a Rotarian. This individual contributed creative ideas for fund-raising, especially for
Polio Plus, hands-on service and participation, and delicious cakes and desserts. The recipient of
the Rookie of the Year Award: Andreia Pedroso
The Four Way Test Award is for the member who exemplified all aspects of the four way test.
This individual volunteered countless hours to benefit us all by capturing the action and ambience
of a majority of our club’s event. She was also someone who through her welcoming and kind
nature made every event one that nurtured goodwill and better friendships. The recipient of the
Four Way Test Award: Renata Lazo.
The Anne Peach Service Above Self Award is named for our truly amazing member Anne Peach
and it is given to an individual who, like Anne is dedicated to contributing to the Club without the
expectation of accolades. This individual contributed her talents and dedication to a number of
club events, all behind the scenes and behind the reception table at our club meetings. She was
vital to the success of our Fall into Fabulous signature project. The recipient of the Service above
Self Award: Cornelia Jung.
The Garth Walker Rotarian of the Year Award went to someone whom we have come to know
as the butterfly whisperer. What a sight to see – boxes and boxes of butterflies, spools of fishing
line, glue guns galore – all to create the magnificent decorations that flew over the runway during
Fall into Fabulous. He was our Team Captain for Relay for Life and leader of our stalwart team,
The Super Rotary Gamers. He led the charge for getting our members to contribute prizes and
silent auction items, walk the track, work at the tent, and so much more while raising more than
$8,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society. He assisted the event chair in making the Golf
Challenge Cup fund raiser a success and has volunteered to chair the event in the upcoming year.
