ShelterBox Disaster Relief
When disaster strikes, ShelterBox is among the first relief organizations on the ground, ready to provide shelter for families
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief organization that provides emergency shelter, essential supplies, and practical support to families displaced by conflict and natural disasters. Since 2000, ShelterBox and Rotary have worked together to reach vulnerable communities quickly, combining ShelterBox’s specialized response expertise with Rotary’s global network, local knowledge, and commitment to service.
Our Rotary Club of Lake Buena Vista is proud to have two of its members as ShelterBox Ambassadors—Anthony Lightman and Andres Goyanes. Both are active District Leaders who attend other Rotary Club meetings in District 6980 to present on ShelterBox, its mission, and the opportunity to support Rotary’s only Project Partner in disaster relief.
The Rotary Club of Lake Buena Vista proudly supports this life-saving mission through annual financial contributions. These donations help fund shelter kits, tools, solar lights, water filters, and other necessities that enable families to recover with dignity, safety, and renewed hope after experiencing unimaginable loss and disruption worldwide.
ShelterBox started in the year 2000 as a local club project at the Rotary Club in Cornwall, England, and has now grown into a global nonprofit organization

Venezuela Earthquake Response
June 2026
Upon learning of the devastation caused by two major earthquakes in Venezuela, our Rotary Club of Lake Buena Vista decided to raise funds to support families in this country. Rotarians typically work with Rotary Districts or Rotary Project Partners like ShelterBox to ensure our donations are handled properly. We are proud to have contributed to the recovery efforts, where ShelterBox is able to serve the needs of local people affected by this natural disaster.
