Maternal and Child Health Projects
We are committed to the preservation of life through our involvement in maternal and child health projects
Maternal and Child Health seeks to reduce preventable deaths and improve the well-being of mothers, infants, and children. Rotary projects support prenatal services, trained healthcare providers, nutrition, immunization, safe childbirth, and greater access to essential medical care during the most vulnerable stages of family life.
We are committed to strengthening this effort by supporting local programs that help children and families begin from a healthier, more secure position. Globally, our participation supports Rotarians and healthcare partners working in communities where pregnancy or childhood can still carry serious risks. Every mother who receives care and every child given a healthy beginning represents potential that might otherwise have been lost. Through the use of Global and District Grants, we leverage member donations to do good all around the world.
Every Rotarian can be a healthcare volunteer if he or she chooses to do so. One way to achieve this is to participate in local healthcare volunteering, but for those with an adventuring spirit, you can get involved in a variety of global initiatives—including NIDs or National Immunization Days. NIDs are coordinated national campaigns that vaccinate millions of children under age five against polio in a short period.
