Impact Club
By David Brinckerhoff
October 2023
Impact is Coming! Impact is Coming!
Rotary’s focus is service above self, and
our club mission is to improve communities
and the lives of individuals locally and
worldwide. Often, prospective Rotarians
interested in helping to support that mission
can’t regularly attend meetings. Our club is
adopting a Rotary membership option for
these individuals.
“IMPACT by the Rotary Club of Lake Buena Vista” will be a form of satellite or
companion club to Rotary LBV, and its members will be full-fledged dues-paying
Rotarians—albeit at a reduced rate. They will pay Rotary International and
District 6980 dues of $65 per quarter vs. $125 per quarter for our regular club
members. IMPACT members will organize their own service projects and take
part in our host club service events as well. Of course, they will be welcome at
Rotary LBV First Tuesday socials and special event gatherings. And they may
occasionally attend our regular club meetings when their schedule allows.
Imagine having 15 or more members ready to pack meals for Rise Against
Hunger, sort food at Second Harvest, or build playgrounds at New Image Youth
Center. Fundraising initiatives like our club foundation’s Golf Challenge could
also benefit from having more volunteers.
Launching an IMPACT club takes at least 12 members, and we are very close.
Once we begin, we look forward to attracting many more. Below are examples of
potential candidates for IMPACT:
• High-quality individuals with a service-oriented mindset, but challenging
schedules.
• Spouses of existing Rotarians who might enjoy a lighter Rotary
experience.
• Former club members who left because of conflicts with our scheduled
Thursday morning meetings.
• Young adult professionals with a service mindset, who may have limited
schedule flexibility, more restrictive budgets, or career and family needs.
